BoxCar^®Pro 4.0 for Windows

BoxCar Pro 4.0 is a powerful enhanced software support package for launching HOBO data loggers, downloading data to your PC, and for graphing, data analysis, data export and managing multiple loggers.  BoxCar Pro 4.0 supports all currently available HOBO loggers.

• Select from predefined sampling intervals (0.5 sec to 9 hrs) or program your own custom intervals
• Set start time and memory modes (e.g., stop when full, wrap-around when full)
• Verify logger operation before launching
• Synchronizes logger and data shuttle clocks to computer clock

Powerful graphing capabilities allow you to compare multiple parameters on one graph, including data from multiple loggers or successive deployments. Then use the zoom and axis-control tools to focus in on the data of interest.

The following analysis functions can be used to extract key information from logged data. These functions actually create new data series, which can be graphed or exported. These functions filter data over user-specified intervals that can be in seconds, minutes, hours or days.

  • Min, max and average values per interval

On/off and State logger data:
  • Run time and off time (closed time and open time) in seconds
  • Percent on and percent off (percent closed and percent open)
  • Number of ON and OFF events (number of opens and closes)

Event logger data:
  • Rainfall per time interval
  • Number of events

BoxCar^® Pro 4.0 System Requirements:
Minimum system requirement is 486/66Mhz with at least 16M of RAM running Windows 95/98/NT4 or later with 16-bit color. A Pentium 90 or higher with 24M of RAM is recommended. The system must have at least one available serial COM port and a CD-ROM Drive.  BoxCar Pro 4.0 is designed for single users, and has not been tested, and therefore not warranted to run in a network environment.

 

USB to Serial adapters for PCs

Keyspan High Speed USB Serial Adapter

The KeySpan high-speed serial adapter (P/N USA-19QW), a single USB to Serial adapter, is compatible with Onset loggers and BoxCar Pro software and HandCar software for Palm handhelds. This adapter can be purchased at most computer dealers and peripheral resellers.  G3 and G4 Power Mac users are not able to run BoxCar or BoxCar Pro due to the lack of a USB to serial cable adapter that is compatible with Virtual PC.
 

Laptop Users: 

Many laptops and newer desktop computers are equipped with a power-saving function that can interfere with successful logger launchings.  If your loggers log only one or two data points after launch, your computer probably has a power-saving function that is signaling the logger to dshut down immediately after launch.  A software patch has been developed to deal with this problem.  Download and install the BoxCar Pro 4.2.10.1 software patch to assure successful launch of your loggers.
